Calgarians have a new and more affordable way to get to Lake Louise. FlixBus has expanded their route network giving people another option of getting out to the mountains without having a car, or worrying about parking or purchasing park pass. The bus service also makes the mountain parks west of the city accessible to international students and travelers.
FlixBus makes pick-ups in downtown Calgary and near Crowfoot in the morning and afternoon. FlixBus already runs buses from Calgary to Edmonton, and Calgary to Banff. Rafi Tumarkin is the senior business development manager at FlixBus and says their service fills the need of affordable travel with an airline-like ticket system.
“We focus a lot on low-cost intercity travel,” he says. “So it’s never going to be an option that breaks your bank in order to see some of these beautiful sights in Canada.” Riders tell CityNews there are many other benefits to taking the bus service instead of driving, such as taking in views, having legroom, and having a bathroom on board.
The service to Lake Louise is operating five days a week, but will be running everyday from Dec. 23 to Jan. 5.
