A new show from Netflix is flying under the radar so far - even though it was co-created by one of the world ’s most famous filmmakers. The underrated epic fantasy series has been earning decent reviews - and it’s also been compared to Amazon Prime Video’s hit superhero show, The Boys . The “gruesome” show, which is an adult animated series co-created by 300 director Zack Snyder, is called Twilight of the Gods.

The series, which is inspired by Norse mythology, is set “in a mythical world of great battles, great deeds and great despair”. It also boasts an impressive supporting voice cast, including The Matrix franchise’s Jessica Henwick, The Walking Dead’s Lauren Cohan and Fargo’s Peter Stormare. Twilight of the Gods’ unique take on Norse folklore has already earned Snyder some praise, as well as its captivating visuals and unashamedly bloody violence.



In fact, according to Joe , it is the “sex scenes and gruesome violence”, as well as the storyline concerning humans trying to kill gods, that has drawn comparisons to The Boys. A review from Polygon ’s Zosha Millman reads: “Both shows start with gruesome tragedy giving way to rough retribution. And both shows ultimately push past sex scenes and gruesome violence in order to find a more thoughtful exploration of grief, rage, connection, and malice.

” It is true that just minutes into the opening of The Boys, we see a violent and tragic moment unfold that completely changes the life of protagonist H.
