Dhanbad: The CBI on Friday arrested a person and recovered a sackful of mobile phones and incriminating documents related to NEET-UG question paper leak case in Dhanbad on Friday. Although the CBI team from Patna and Dhanbad SP (city) Ajit Kumar declined to provide any information, sources revealed that the CBI team raided a house in Dhanbad and took Pawan Kumar into custody. During interrogation, Pawan confessed to disposing of a sack filled with mobile phones used to communicate with prospective buyers of question papers , along with related documents, in a pond under Sudamdih police station area of the district.

The CBI team, accompanied by local police personnel, searched the pond, recovered the sack, and left for Patna with Pawan. Earlier, CBI had arrested Aman Singh, Bunty, and Rahul from Dhanbad, all of whom named Amit Singh, the elder brother of Aman and Pawan, who were evading arrest. Amit Singh, who reportedly went to Goa with his wife before the CBI took up the case, remains at large.



The CBI earlier seized Rs 4 lakh, three bank passbooks showing heavy transactions to different accounts, four mobile phones, land purchase documents, and documents of four luxury vehicles from his house. According to reports, the CBI inquiry has revealed that the gang used ‘Any Desk’ software to provide question papers and their answers to NEET candidates who paid for the service. CBI sleuths detected the trunk containing NEET question papers tampered with in Oasis School, Hazarib.
