NCIS' Tony DiNozzo and Ziva David stars have shed light on the timeline of their forthcoming spin-off. NCIS season 22 has kicked off on CBS , accompanied by its first-ever prequel NCIS Origins, which narrates the early career of Leroy Gibbs (portrayed by Austin Stowell). More is in store with another spin-off NCIS: Tony and Ziva which is set to explore the lives of fan favorites Tony DiNozzo (played by Michael Weatherly) and Ziva David (Cote de Pablo).
The series will reunite the star-crossed lovers on Paramount+, as they face peril when Tony's security firm in Paris comes under attack. However, it has been disclosed that while the main events of the spin-off are set in contemporary times, the show won't start off this way. Instead, NCIS: Tony and Ziva will resume from the point of Ziva's feigned death and Tony's departure from the team as he relocates to Paris with their daughter Tali.
This information was divulged at the MIPCOM panel for the show, with actress de Pablo remarking: "We haven't seen these characters since 2013 and I think the fans have always wanted to see what happened between them. "In our first season, they're going to get a fix of what has happened." By picking up over a decade earlier, the spin-off will dispel the mystery surrounding the aftermath of Tony and Ziva's life-altering departures from NCIS.
Ziva later made a comeback to assist Gibbs with a case, only to eventually leave Washington DC behind and head to Paris for a reunion with Tony and Tali. De.
