Prayagraj : A nautanki mahotsav (festival) commenced at North Central Zone Cultural Centre (NCZCC) on Tuesday. Being organised for the first time, the festival will conclude on August 13. The Nautanki festival is being held in the multipurpose auditorium of NCZCC.

The event is being organised by Swarg Rangmandal . The President of the organisation, Atul Yadavvanshi, said that on the first day, ‘Abhigyan Shakuntalam’, written by Kalidas and translated by Rajkumar Srivastava, was presented. On the second day of Nautanki mahotsav, ‘Budhi Kaki’ will be presented.



On the third day, ‘Bahurupiya’ will be showcased. On the fourth day, ‘Tare Tare Na Lekh’ will be performed. On the fifth day, ‘Panch Parmeshwar’ will be featured.

On the sixth day, ‘Kafan’ will be presented, and on the seventh day, ‘Dastaan-e-Laila-Majnu’ will be showcased. He further said that all the timeless creations have been translated into Nautanki by Rajkumar Srivastava. Shlesh Gautam mentioned that on the closing day of the festival, a national seminar will be organised on ‘contribution of folk art in nation-building’.

The keynote speaker will be renowned litterateur and art critic Jyotish Joshi, and the programme will be presided over by director of Rampur Raza Library and Museum, Pushkar Mishra.
