The National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) frequently captures breathtaking images of the universe, captivating space enthusiasts around the world. NASA 's social media accounts are filled with educational videos and stunning images of Earth and space, making them a treasure trove for those interested in the cosmos. Astronaut Matthew Dominick's remarkable moonset photo Recently, NASA astronaut Matthew Dominick, who has been aboard the International Space Station (ISS) for about four months, captured a remarkable photograph of the moon setting over the Pacific Ocean.

In the caption, Mr. Dominick described the scene, noting, "The moon setting over the Pacific. He explained that he initially went to the cupola to photograph Tropical Storm Hone near Hawaii, but just after passing the storm, the moon began to set.

" The now-viral image captures the moon with blue hues in the foreground, created by clouds and Earth's atmosphere. He also shared technical details about the photograph, stating, "400mm, ISO 500, 1/20000s shutter speed, f2.8, cropped, denoised.

" Another user shared, "This photograph touched my heart," and someone else added, "This is absolutely mind-boggling." A viewer reflected on the vastness of space, saying, "And to think it still takes nearly 3 days to arrive at the moon. The vastness of space is so humbling and so beautiful.

" Previous moonrise capture from the ISS Just a few days earlier, the American space agency shared another striking image of a moonrise from a "unique vantage point" inside the ISS. This photo, also taken by Mr. Dominick, features a crescent-shaped moon above Earth's atmosphere, with the planet appearing like ocean-blue water.

NASA described the scene: "Layers of orange and black appear underneath the horizontal band of blue stretching across the centre of the image. The crescent moon is white and stands out against the blackness of space.".
