Vadodara: Twenty-five villages in Vadodara district have been put on alert as over 2.45 lakh cusecs of water was being released from the Sardar Sarovar dam in Narmada district. Fifteen gates of the Sardar Sarovar dam were opened at 1.

The statement said authorities were maintaining a vigil and that precautionary measures have been taken in 25 villages under Dabhoi, Karjan, and Shinor talukas of Vadodara district. These villages are located along the Narmada river banks in Vadodara district, and the local administration has been instructed to keep an eye on the situation and take precautionary measures.

In the wake of heavy to very heavy forecast in Vadodara district, Vadodara district collector Bijal Shah issued directives to all the taluka level officials not to leave headquarters. Shah conducted a video conference asking the officials to remain vigilant and coordinate for rescue operations if required.
