Saturday, November 30, 2024 Myanmar recently welcomed the 7th Tourism Ministers’ Meeting for Cambodia, Laos, Myanmar, and Vietnam (CLMV) in Yangon on Friday. The event marked a significant step toward regional collaboration in tourism promotion and marketing. Key discussions centered around strengthening joint efforts in tourism, including the creation of a shared CLMV tourism website or information database.
Ministers also focused on expanding participation in international tourism events, travel fairs, and exhibitions. Another important aspect was the use of cost-effective digital marketing campaigns via social media platforms to boost regional tourism outreach. Myanmar’s Union Minister for Hotels and Tourism, Thet Thet Khine, emphasized the importance of enhancing tourism cooperation within the CLMV region, advocating for deeper ties between the four countries to collectively grow their tourism industries.
The meeting highlighted the encouraging recovery of international visitor arrivals to CLMV nations. In 2022, these countries welcomed 7.5 million international visitors, with a significant surge to 22.
8 million in 2023. Preliminary data for 2024 reveals a steady trend, with 21.3 million international visitors recorded from January to September.
