As we came to the end of summer, I found myself surrounded by people who couldn't wait for cosy season. The thought of nights drawing in and cold weather and jumpers filled them with absolute glee. I, on the other hand, did what I do every year.

I stood by the window and exclaimed, with a heavy heart, 'it's only 8pm and already dark!' which I will continue to observe until it becomes, 'wow it's 8pm and still light outside!'. I find the transition from summer into winter quite hard, but over the years I've learned how to manage my mood when the seasons change. I bought a Lumie alarm clock to make waking up in the dark less painful.

I stick to an exercise routine to boost my endorphins. However, there's one issue I can't seem to solve during the colder months. A quick search on Google for 'comfortable winter shoes' results in a selection of mostly black boots.

Sure, we probably all have at least one pair of boots we rely on year after year, but what about other types of shoe? I am astounded by the number of influencers on social media that prance about in strappy styles or ballet pumps when it's less than 10 degrees outside. How are their toes not frozen? Doesn't the sharp angle of their gorgeous pointed shoe cut into their flesh and rub against their skin, or do I just have gigantically wide feet that hate me being on-trend? Trainers are the obvious go-to for comfortable footwear, but they don't always go with a chic outfit and can make a look more casual than you'd like. Loaf.
