Tragically, on May 21, 1925, Ueno passed away suddenly at work. Unaware of what had happened, Hachiko continued to wait at the station every day for the next 10 years, hoping his owner would return. Despite facing mistreatment from some people, Hachiko’s unwavering loyalty and dedication touched many hearts.

In tribute to his devotion, a statue of Hachiko was placed at Shibuya Station, serving as a powerful symbol of the profound bond between pets and their owners.
