This piece is adapted from a victory speech that 3rd Berkshire District Rep.-elect Leigh Davis has prepared for election night but was unable to give due to the late arrival of voting results. It has been lightly adapted and edited to fit this format.
Writing to you for the first time as your state representative-elect for the 3rd Berkshire District, I feel more deeply invested than ever in the future of this community we all cherish. In all the ways we may be connected — as neighbors, friends, parents, workers, volunteers and Americans — I am sincerely humbled by the opportunity we have to move forward together. I want to express my heartfelt gratitude to the political leaders who have supported us on this journey.
Massachusetts is fortunate to have U.S. Sens.
Elizabeth Warren and Ed Markey, whose example and guidance have been a force for our campaign. Their visits to Lee, Lenox and Great Barrington last month meant so much to me. I am also grateful to U.
S. Rep. Richard Neal for his endorsement and Lt.
Gov. Kim Driscoll for joining us in Dalton. Additionally, I thank Gov.
Maura Healey, Attorney General Andrea Campbell and U.S. Rep.
Ayanna Pressley for their invaluable endorsements and encouragement. Governing is a team effort, and Berkshire County is fortunate to have a strong team in the state Legislature. Thank you to state Sen.
Paul Mark, state Rep. Tricia Farley Bouvier and state Rep. John Barrett for your encouragement, guidance and friendship.
I look forward to jo.
