The air is changing to that bitter, crisp feeling, signaling the coming of fall to the Lowcountry. This weekend is the perfect chance to bring the family out to one of Charleston's seasonal events and enjoy some of the cooler weather outdoors. Make sure that you drive on over to Summerville for their annual Sweet Tea Festival and sample one of the greatest tea selections in the birthplace of Charleston's treasured iced drink.

And while you're over there, check out one of the multiple talented local concerts being put on for the Southern Songwriter Festival. Or venture out to Goose Creek's 2024 Crowfield Bash for an afternoon of fun family activities and an engine-revving car and motorcycle show. Then, check out the Charleston Pride Festival hosted at The Refinery and celebrate with local vendors, food trucks and live entertainment while also supporting your local LGBTQ+ community.



And don't miss your chance to visit the Magnolia Beauti-Fall Festival put on by the keepers of Magnolia Gardens with an enjoyable evening of family fun, music and beautiful sights in the heart of the Lowcountry. THURSDAY-SATURDAY (SEPT. 19-21) If you're looking to celebrate local talent, then take advantage of the second annual Southern Songwriters Festival.

The event will begin at Songwriter Alley, 143 Central Ave., Summerville at 5:30 p.m.

Thursday, Sept. 19 and feature multiple performances through Friday and Saturday with new songwriters taking the stage every hour. Saturday will also exhibit more local talent bringing their brilliant pens and voices to the Hutchinson Square Stage, along with full-band sets from Forty Mile Detour and the Jockey Lot band.

Each of the outside events will be free and open to the public, but there will also be a more intimate performance from Gritty Flyright, Colleen Lloy and Dan Riley at the Public Works Arts Listening Room, 135 W. Richardson Ave., for $15, although tickets are limited.

Main St., the event will transform the historic location into a vibrant street fair and feature the "Sweetest Farmers Market," a street market of more than 70 unique local vendors, tasty food trucks and talented artisans. The main event is the sweet tea competition, during which crowds can sample and vote for this year's favorite sweet tea.
