After four years at Notre Dame, one at Oxford, six at North Carolina and seven as a member of the faculty at Texas A&M, COLLEEN MURPHY made her way to the University of Illinois in 2012 — and has been adding titles and honors to her CV ever since.

These days, she’s the associate dean for academic affairs and the Roger & Stephany Joslin Professor at the UI College of Law, while also chairing the campus committee for the Illinois Scholars at Risk Program, being selected for the Big Ten Academic Alliance Mellon Fellows for the Humanities/Academic Leadership Program and serving as co-editor of the International Journal of Transitional Justice. Murphy took Editor Jeff D’Alessio for a virtual tour of some of her most memorable places and spaces on the UI campus. The Quad is a quintessential college space. The sun strikes the grass and the buildings in the most beautiful ways mid-afternoon, and you are bound to see students lounging on the grass or walking to class.
