I have always lived in Rome, a city where you are constantly hit by . I’m currently studying in and really missing the tranquillity and slower pace of the Eternal City – and the culture of never actually having to make plans. In Rome, my friends and I at some point make our way to Piazza Farnese, then decide whether to head to Camponeschi for a candlelit supper or to have a relaxed drink at Caffè Perù.
I live in the Pinciano area, up on a hill to the north of , beside Villa Borghese. I consider myself very lucky to have grown up overlooking this beautiful park – and right next to the Galleria Borghese. You can never tire of drifting around this palatial yet intimate gallery filled with a treasure trove of , from Berninis to Caravaggios.
There are so many wonders in Rome – some more hidden than others, such as the view from the Giardino degli Aranci on top of the Aventine Hill, where you gaze through a keyhole that looks into the Villa of the Knights of Malta, with a spectacular view of St Peter’s Basilica beyond. Another impressive location is Forte Antenne on one of Rome’s highest hills. It’s a huge, historic fort that is slightly overgrown and derelict (in a romantic way), where amazing parties happen – especially when the Lost DJ.
A memorable occasion that conjured all the splendour of Rome was the birthday party for my friends the Arcelli and Aldobrandini sisters at Villa Aldobrandini. This 17th-century villa in the Frascati countryside has been a symb.
