Lucknow: Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday compared the Samajwadi Party (SP) to the Muslim League, accusing it of engaging in divisive politics. Addressing an election campaign rally in Khair, in Aligarh district, the CM held the Muslim League responsible for India' partition and accused the SP of following a similar path. "The foundation of India's partition was laid with the establishment of the Muslim League in 1906 in Aligarh.

While Aligarh rejected their agenda, their plan to divide the nation on communal lines succeeded. The Muslim League was not founded in Karachi, Islamabad, or Dhaka, but in Aligarh. Their divisive tactics are akin to those of the Samajwadi Party today," he said.

He accused the Opposition party of opposing initiatives such as the Ram Temple, Deepotsav, Dev Deepawali, fair examinations, development projects, and welfare schemes for the poor, while using caste-based politics to create divisions. "During SP's rule, dangerous mafia linked to the party used to harm innocent Hindus, seize their properties, kidnap traders, threaten their daughters, occupy religious sites, and disrupt festivals. When such people are in power, poor Hindus are left waiting for benefits, as they never receive the advantages of govt schemes," the CM claimed.

At a public meeting, he listed other development projects such as Jewar Airport, Film City, and Toy City, which aim to benefit the local population. He also criticised previous Congress and SP governments for neglect.
