Belwin Conservatory is again hosting Music in the Trees, an event centered around a multitude of different artists performing in trees 16 feet off the ground. Music in the Trees is a two-day outdoor event taking place 11 a.m.
to 3 p.m. Saturday, Aug.
17, and Sunday, Aug. 18, at the Belwin Education Site, 1553 Stagecoach Trail S., Afton.
The event was put together by Belwin’s program director Susan Haugh to celebrate and bring awareness to the restoration of the dying pine forest where Music in the Trees takes place. The pine forest was planted in 1933, but, as a monocrop, it’s more susceptible to disease. Because of this, the staff at Belwin are working to replace the trees with a healthier, bio-diverse plant community, according to Haugh.
Belwin Conservatory is centered around connecting their community with the natural world through immersive and engaging education. Due to the growing audience each year but limited parking space, this is the first year people need to purchase a ticket in advance. Tickets are on a sliding scale of $10, $20 or $35 per car; purchasers choose their own price.
