Singer-music composer Himesh Reshammiya's father and veteran music director Vipin Reshammiya has died at the age of 87. According to reports, he breathed his last on September 18 at 8:30 pm after struggling with breathing issues and age-related health problems. He was admitted to Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai.

Vanita Thapar, a close friend of the Reshammiya family, confirmed the news to ETimes. “Yes, he had a breathing problem. He was in Kokilaben and passed away today at 8.



30 pm,” Vanita said. "I am a family friend, more like family. I used to call him Papa since the time he was making TV serials.

Later, he became a music director, and then Himesh followed in his footsteps. We share a very close bond. Anup Singh, the numerologist, and I were also very close to him,” she added.

Reshammiya's family also released a statement that read, “It is with profound grief that we announce the peaceful passing of our beloved father Shri Vipin Reshammiya on 18th September 2024. A kind soul with a heart full of love, his presence lit up the lives of all who knew him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, wisdom, cherished memories and timeless music.

” His last rites will be performed on Thursday, September 19 at 11.30 am at Oshiwara Crematorium, Mumbai, as reported by NDTV. Recently, Himesh released his first devotional bhajan, Ganpati Ganjaanann, which was composed by his father during the auspicious occasion of Ganesh Chaturthi.

Earlier, while posting a video on Instagram, he revealed that his father composed a song with late singers Lata Mangeshkar and Kishore Kumar, but it was never released. “My dad had composed a beautiful track quite a few years back sung by the legendary Lataji and Kishore Kumar ji. Unfortunately, it couldn’t be released then," Himesh said.

"I feel that it’s one of the finest classic melodies of all time which should come out in the market for all music lovers and I will be bringing the song out in the market soon, my dad composed it with a lot of love and I’m happy that this song will be coming out soon for all of you, give it all your love when it comes out and you hear it, we shot for the Kishore Kumar 100 songs special this week and the very talented singers of #indianidol sang beautifully like always lots of love," he added. Meanwhile, Vipin composed music for one of Salman Khan's films. On the sets, Salman also met Himesh and was impressed by his musical talent.

This meeting paved the way for Himesh's breakthrough as a music composer for Salman's film ‘Pyar Kiya To Darna Kya’. Vipin worked as a producer on The Xpose (2014) and Teraa Surroor (2016), featuring his son. He also worked with great artists like RD Burman, Laxmikant-Pyarelal, and Shankar Jaikishan.
