Police have arrested a suspect in a previously unsolved murder case at Goalanda upazila in Rajbari district on Saturday. The suspect Helal Molla, 49, a resident of Kashima village in Borat union in Rajbari and son of late Muntaz Molla, was apprehended from a concrete casting workshop in Tongibari upazila of Munshiganj. The arrest was confirmed on Saturday evening through a press release issued by Goalanda Ghat Police Station officer-in-charge Md.

Rakibul Islam. According to OC Md. Rakibul Islam, the body of the victim, Alimgir Kabir, was discovered on August 31 in BNP ,or area of Chhoto Bhakla union.



Investigators had deemed the case to be particularly challenging due to the lack of initial leads. Under the directives of the Rajbari Superintendent of Police, a team led by the police station's investigating officer Uttam Kumar Ghosh launched an extensive investigation and conducted raids in Lakshmipur's Ramganj area and Munshiganj's Tongibari upazila, where Helal Molla was ultimately located and arrested. During interrogation, Helal confessed to his involvement in the crime, revealing that his younger brother Harun Molla, 40, who lives with his family in Faridpur's Nagarkanda area, had initially introduced him to the victim at a mobile money transfer shop.

Alimgir had entrusted Helal with funds for obtaining a passport. Later, Helal lured the victim to his residence. With Harun's assistance, Alimgir was rendered unconscious and placed in the backseat of an unknown vehicle.
