An Essex mum is poised to set a new world record by walking an epic 7,000 miles around the British mainland's coast. 47 year old Lindsey Bell bid farewell to London's Greenwich Park on March 1, embarking on "an adventure of a lifetime", and has already completed over 5,000 miles of her journey. Lindsey aims to become the first person to solo navigate the British mainland coast without the assistance of ferries.
The challenge spans roughly 7,000 miles to be traversed in just 298 days, which amounts to averaging a marathon a day. Unlike previous challengers, Bell is committed to walking around every bay and coastline where typically quicker boat transport has been utilised. Including scaling notable peaks such as Yr Wyddfa, Scafell Pike, and Ben Nevis, the determined Essex mother is making her way around Britain, and is currently in Edinburgh.
Expressing her love for the outdoors, Lindsey said: "I have always loved being in nature and it helps me being the best version of myself."
