Eating out can feel like a real indulgence if you're short on cash. And it's definitely an indulgence if you are tucking into a slap up meal abroad. But contrary to popular belief, heading to restaurants doesn't always need to break the bank.

Gemma, who goes by gemmaloveden on , recently revealed how affordable it was to take her family-of-seven out to eat. They were on holiday in Tenerife when they found the affordable spot. And when the bill came after they chowed down on pizza and steak, the household was left speechless.

In an online video, Gemma explained: "Evening meal this evening cost €54.84 (around £45)." People online were equally impressed – and flooded the comments section with their thoughts.

It proves that good food doesn't have to be expensive. And many also pointed out that the Tenerife meal seems a lot more reasonable than dishes you can get at other British holiday hotspots. One person replied, saying, "That would be £150 easy in Turkey.

" And another commenter gushed: "That's amazing. I live in Cyprus. It would be much more than that.

" If you're looking for more ways to save money on food in Tenerife, listen up. While all inclusive deals can be a winner, self-catering and picking affordable restaurants to eat at can cut costs too. Try local "guachinches" (informal eateries) which offer traditional Canarian food at reasonable prices.

Tapas bars also offer cheap delicacies like patatas bravas, chorizo and fresh fish. They're both delicious and affordable. Or if all else fails, head to a nearby supermarket and make meals back at your villa instead!.
