Saturday, August 31, 2024 MTR Corporation is dedicated to offering a safe, efficient, and pleasant travel experience on its trains. By evaluating passenger data and modifying train schedules according to travel habits and operational needs, we aim to continuously improve our service quality. Effective from this Saturday (31 August 2024), we will introduce 112 extra weekly trips across the East Rail Line, Tseung Kwan O Line, and Tuen Ma Line.

Notably, there will be incremental increases in the train service frequency for both northbound and southbound directions on the East Rail Line to and from Lok Ma Chau and Lo Wu stations during select times on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays. Furthermore, with the onset of the new academic year beginning Monday (2 September 2024), additional staff will be stationed at key locations to facilitate seamless operations and maintain vigilant oversight of services across all lines. Enhanced train frequencies will be observed on the East Rail Line between Admiralty and Lo Wu/Lok Ma Chau stations at various intervals during morning and evening peaks on weekdays, weekends, and public holidays.

Specifically, the frequency to Lok Ma Chau Station will average around every 8.6 minutes, and to Lo Wu Station, trains will run approximately every 5.5 to 6 minutes.

Updates and train destinations will be promptly displayed on platform screens. For the Tseung Kwan O Line, an increased frequency will occur on Saturday evenings between Po Lam and North Point stations, adjusting from approximately every 5 minutes to about every 4.5 minutes.

Additionally, the service between LOHAS Park and Tiu Keng Leng stations will be bolstered to operate at roughly 9-minute intervals. A slight enhancement in the frequency of trains on the Tuen Ma Line during weekday evenings will also be implemented. As the new school term commences on 2 September, we urge all students to plan their travel schedules ahead of time.

A special morning Light Rail route (Route 720) will commence, originating from Siu Hong Stop and traversing stops like Lam Tei, Nai Wai, and others, concluding at Tin Wing Stop in Tin Shui Wai, aimed primarily at aiding students and residents of Tuen Mun on their weekday commutes. This route will operate at 7:46 am from Monday to Friday, excluding weekends, school, and public holidays. In the previous year, MTR facilitated over 1.

79 million train trips, maintaining an exceptional on-time performance rate exceeding 99.9%. We will continue to adapt our service offerings in response to passenger needs and operational dynamics to uphold our commitment to delivering dependable and high-quality train services.
