Vadodara: MS University ’s ranking has slipped further as the Union education ministry released its National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) 2024 data on Monday. MSU featured in the rank band of 151-200 in the India Rankings 2024 for universities. For the last two years, the university was in the 101-150 rank band.

Ironically, the university this year does not feature on the India Rankings 2024: Overall, a category it had been in in 2022, in the rank band of 151-200. Gandhinagar-based Indian Institute of Technology has ranked 29th overall. Gujarat University (GU) ranked 76th in the universities category.

In contrast to MSU, city-based Parul University (PU), ranked in the 151-200 band last year, improved its rank to move into the 101-150 band. Ahmedabad’s Nirma University (NU) and Pandit Deendayal Energy University (PDEU) in Gandhinagar also featured in the 101-150 rank band. Changa-based Charotar University of Science and Technology and Nadiad-based Dharmsinh Desai University and Sumandeep University (SU) featured in the 151-200 rank band as well.

It is worth mentioning that 2016 and 2021 were the only years when MSU found a place among the top 100 universities of the country. In 2016, MSU received its best-ever ranking of 76th, when the NIRF rankings were declared for the first time. In 2021, the university again featured in the 100 top universities of the country when it ranked 90th with a score of 39.
