The Muslim Students’ Society of Nigeria (MSSN) Lagos State Area Unit is set to proudly represent Nigeria at the forthcoming Al-Fourqane International Quran Memorization, Recitation, and Tajweed Competition in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. The prestigious Qur’an Competition, scheduled to hold from Saturday August 10th through Saturday 17th 2024, will feature participants from around the globe, showcasing their dedication to the Holy Qur’an. The MSSN Lagos contingent, led by the Amir, Kamoldeen Abiona, is scheduled to depart Lagos for Abidjan on Saturday, carrying with them the hopes and prayers of the entire Muslim community in the state and Nigeria at large.

According to the organizers, the year’s contest marks second edition of the competition. The international Quran reading competition attracts contingents from the West African countries including Nigeria. The competition is intended for Muslim student associations in the West African countries, according to the organizers.



“The modalities of participation are travel and accommodation are covered by AEEMCI; the candidate must have memorized the entire Quran (Hafiz); the candidate must not exceed 25 years old. “The candidate must be a pupil or student; the candidate must be a member of a Muslim Students Association; the candidate must be of good moral character.” Speaking ahead of the Al-Fourqane International Qur’an Competition, Abiona, in a statement, expressed his pride in the participants and encouraged them to remain steadfast in their preparation.

Abiona stated, “Insha’Allah, we are confident that our contigents will not only perform excellently but also uphold the values and principles of Islam. MSSN Lagos has always been a beacon of Islamic knowledge and practice, and our participation in this competition is yet another opportunity to showcase the fruits of our dedication. “We urge all our contingents to give their best, not just in the competition but in their conduct as ambassadors of Islam and Nigeria.

Let the Qur’an be your guide, and let your recitation reflect the beauty and wisdom of Allah’s words,” he added. Meanwhile, Abiona reaffirmed MSSN Lagos commitment to fostering a deep connection with the Qur’an among its members. He noted that MSSN Lagos participation is a reflection of the high standards the organization has set for itself and members over the years.

Abiona stated, “We are proud to carry the banner of MSSN Lagos and Nigeria to Abidjan, and we believe our participants will make us proud.” “MSSN Lagos has a strong legacy of excellence in Qur’anic competitions, and this year is no different. We ask that our contingents stay focused, be humble, and remember that they are representing not just themselves, but the entire Muslim Ummah,” Abiona said.

Recall that MSSN Lagos has a rich history of excellence in hosting and participation in Qur’anic competitions, with its flagship Annual Lagos Qur’an Competition (LQC).
