Frank J. Mrvan, D-Highland, said he considers the oath of office he took on the first day of his third, two-year term, to be "a sacred trust with the constituents of Indiana's First Congressional District." In that vein, Mrvan said he commits to "faithfully performing my responsibilities to uphold the United States Constitution.

The Region congressman's priorities for the next two years include defending and supporting the domestic steel industry, bringing home federal investments in manufacturing and critical infrastructure, and enhancing and preserving the Lake Michigan shoreline and Northwest Indiana's environmental wonders. "I will also continue to be a vocal advocate for vulnerable populations, public safety and law enforcement personnel, and the rights of our invaluable members of organized labor," Mrvan said.
Mrvan was sworn-in as a member of the 119th Congress around 2:30 p.m. Region time Friday after a few dissenters in the narrow Republican majority forced an extended delay before ultimately deciding to retain House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.
