The Region congressman's priorities for the next two years include defending and supporting the domestic steel industry, bringing home federal investments in manufacturing and critical infrastructure, and enhancing and preserving the Lake Michigan shoreline and Northwest Indiana's environmental wonders. Mrvan was sworn-in as a member of the 119th Congress around 2:30 p.m. Region time Friday after a few dissenters in the narrow Republican majority forced an extended delay before ultimately deciding to retain House Speaker Mike Johnson, R-La.
