” This year’s theme was “Advocates Unite.” According to MRI President Amy Bliefnick, Speak Up and Speak Out is an annual, statewide program. “But we kind of put our own spin on it this year,” she said.

Other Central Illinois day programs had been able to join MRI clients in activities this week. “That’s a great opportunity to bring other groups in too, so our people can learn from them, and they can learn from us,” Bliefnick said. Daniel Burmaster, direct service professional from Encore Services in Clinton, and approximately eight clients from his agency attended an SUSO rally on Tuesday.

“It sounded like a cool opportunity to learn more stuff about mental health,” he said. The event was Burmaster�.
