Nigeria’s respected comedian, Paul Olope popularly known as Mr Paul recently recorded success with his annual comedy show, ‘Mr Paul On The Mic’. Mr Paul is a stand up comedian who is Warri grown, with a career spanning over two decades. He has worked hard in his career and has carved a Niche for himself within the Nigerian Comedy Industry as the Comedian that says what people don’t Understand and at the same time making them laugh.
On 11 August, 2024, the ever hillarious comedian whose jokes are a bit enigmatic had his yearly Comedy Show in Warri titled ‘Mr Paul On The Mic’ (No place like home) the show was sold out. The whole Warri came Out to support their own, Mr paul did not disappoint he gave an outstanding performance which got him a standing Ovation from the Audience. Mr Paul is a believer of giving opportunity to up and coming Talents and during the show, he gave opportunity for young comedians in Warri to participate in a competition; Mr Paul on the mIc Comedy Challenge, the Top three Comedians Won Cash gift and had the opportunity to perform during the live show along side other A Comedian.
This competition was Sponsored By the Office of the Special Assistant to the President (OVP) on Digital and Creative Economy. Speaking about one of the reasons Mr Paul On The Mic’ comedy show takes place in Warri, he stated, “I was born and bred in Warri. I started my comedy Career in Warri, before relocating to Lagos, that is why the show is titled no place like home.
The show is a way of giving back to the place I started from. The comedy challenge competition was also part of giving back to my community. It helps to give platform to up coming comedians to thrive and grow in their craft,” he said.
Mr Paul has headlined Major Shows within ‘Nigeria from AY Live’, ‘Basketmouth Uncensored’, ‘Bovi Man on Fire’, ‘chronicles of Ushebebe’, Alibaba January 1st concert, ‘I Go Save Unusual’ Just to mention a few. In the last two years Mr Paul has Toured with Basketmouth And AY comedian in their yearly UK comedy shows. Mr Paul plans to take his yearly show to other part of Nigeria for his fans within to enjoy his talent.
