MOUNT PLEASANT — A restaurant serving an eclectic range of tacos has suddenly closed less than two years after opening in the former Sticky Fingers space on Johnnie Dodds Boulevard. White Duck Taco Shop , which has nearly a dozen locations across South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee, announced the closure on social media Oct. 23.
Here's why White Duck Taco has joined the group of tenants moving out of Hampton Station The Asheville, N.C.-based restaurant cited the destruction left by Hurricane Helene as one of the reasons for closing its only Charleston-area location just 17 months after its debut.
White Duck’s Asheville headquarters were damaged, ownership noted in its post, and its River Arts location was one of several businesses left partially underwater amid the storm. “The impact of Hurricane Helene has left White Duck Taco’s home in Asheville devastated, affecting our headquarters and our River Arts location,” ownership said. “We’re overwhelmed by the love and support we have received during this time from our guests, partners and local communities.
” Restaurant co-owned by Bill Murray closes after 12 years in Charleston The news comes weeks after White Duck’s longtime Greenville location at Hampton Station closed due in part to a dip in revenue. The restaurant plans to reopen in downtown Greenville by March 2025. That location and another in Greenville off Airport Road are both independently owned franchises.
