Ton welcome their Ayrshire opponents to Parklea in the second round of the Scottish Gas Women's Scottish Cup on Sunday - and they head into the tie in high spirits as they prepare to go head to head against the SWFL South title chasers. The Parklea side are on a high after a brilliant performance away from home at the Falkirk Stadium last time around. A Jenny Dougall brace, coupled with strikes from Rachael McConachie and Jennifer Caldwell, staved off a Bairns fightback last weekend, and Forbes believes the result was long in the making.
"It's a big result that's been coming," he said. "We were really delighted with it. I felt as if we were unlucky against East Fife the week before, where we narrowly lost 1-0.
"Perhaps in typical Morton fashion we made it hard for ourselves, but we had to dig deep and work really hard. "It turned out that we managed to put in that statement performance we spoke about against a team at the top of the league." Now Morton prepare to face off against a side that have won their opening two games of their domestic season - scoring 20 goals in the process.
And Forbes admits that his side will need to be at their best to try and combat the Ayrshire side's seemingly frightening attack as well as keep on hitting the back of the net at the right end of the pitch. He added: "It's a tough draw. Cambusdoon have started well in the league this season - they'll be full of confidence.
"Not only have they had good results in the league, but also in the League .
