Tuesday, August 20, 2024 Moroccan National Tourism Office Reports 41% Growth in Indian Market The Moroccan National Tourism Office (MNTO) h as achieved a significant milestone with a 41% year-on-year growth in the Indian market during the first half of 2024, according to a recent analysis. This impressive growth comes in the first year of MNTO’s operations in India and sets a positive trajectory, with expectations of reaching a 45% growth rate by the end of the year. In the first six months of 2024, Morocco welcomed 7.

5 million tourists globally, marking a 15% increase from the previous year. The country has set an ambitious target of attracting 15.5 million tourists by the end of 2024.



Among these goals, MNTO aims to attract 100,000 Indian visitors by 2026 as part of its strategic objectives. Over the past year, MNTO has actively engaged with the Indian travel industry and media to strengthen its presence in the market. The office conducted successful roadshows in key cities such as Delhi and Mumbai, which have been instrumental in building strong relationships with numerous tour operators and inviting prominent media partners.

These events have played a crucial role in positioning Morocco as a top travel destination for Indian tourists. In addition to the roadshows, MNTO organized a highly successful trade FAM (Familiarization) trip, allowing key Indian tour operators to experience Morocco’s unique offerings firsthand. The trip received excellent feedback and significantly contributed to the positive perception of Morocco among Indian travel professionals.

Looking ahead, MNTO’s strategic plans for 2024 include a strong focus on promoting Morocco’s MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Exhibitions) capabilities. The office is targeting MICE companies to showcase Morocco as a premier destination for international business events, further enhancing its appeal to the Indian market. Jamal Kilito, Country Manager of MNTO-India, expressed his optimism about the increasing number of Indian travelers to Morocco.

“Morocco is a promising destination for Indian tourists,” Kilito said. “It’s encouraging to see Indian travelers, whether with family or solo, exploring the destination. With multiple trade engagements planned, Morocco has significant potential to attract honeymooners, MICE events, and celebrations.
