CHARITON COUNTY, Mo. (KMIZ) A Paris, Missouri, man has been charged with several felonies after he allegedly threatened to kill three people in Chariton County. Kody Jo Ryan Berrey was charged on Monday with first-degree domestic assault, first-degree assault, tampering with a witness and first-degree harassment.

A man had called law enforcement on Friday and stated that Berrey was traveling from Kansas City to Brunswick to kill two people and that Berry was possibly armed with a crossbow, a probable cause statement says.
A Chariton County Sheriff’s deputy pulled over the vehicle in Brunswick and detained Berrey without issue, the statement says. A crossbow was seen in the vehicle and the deputy eventually found two guns and two compound bows while searching the vehicle, the statement says. The man who called law enforcement allegedly said that Berrey said in a 25-minute phone call that one of the potential victims was “evil and had to die” and claimed he would strangle the other person, court documents say.
Berrey then threatened the caller and stated that the man’s “children would have to grow up without a father,” the statement says. One of the victims showed law enforcement text messages from Berrey that showed threats, the statement indicates..
