A luxury Mercedes sporting green P-plates crashed in front of Barton Milk Bar in Barton St, Hawthorn just after 9am while Voss was reportedly inside waiting for a coffee. Two men clambered out of the flipped vehicle and allegedly attempted to flee the scene but were chased down by Voss and another man from inside the cafe, according to a witness who messaged Melbourne journalist Jacqui Felgate. Voss, 49, reportedly tackled one of the alleged offenders to the ground and waited for police to arrive and apprehend him.
Carlton Football Club confirmed that the senior coach had been unharmed in the incident, and remained at the scene to give his details and account of events to police. It is understood the two men inside the car escaped from the crash without significant injuries. Victoria Police is yet to release a statement.
