A new mural is coming to Bass Street Landing, and now it has an artist. The Moline Public Art Commission, alongside Quad City Arts, announced that local artist Jeremiah Ketner will be painting the new mural. Ketner, a Moline native, was chosen from 13 local submissions.

"Celebrated for his vibrant environments and dreamlike characters, Ketner’s signature style combines whimsical patterns with imaginative female figures and richly colored landscapes, often inspired by Japanese culture," the commission said, in a news release shared Thursday. Ketner has arts degrees from Columbus College of Art and Design and Southern Illinois University.
His work has been featured in Nordstrom stores, murals in Chicago and prestigious exhibitions across the U.S. He's held solo shows in Chicago and New York, the release said.
The artist often shares his work under the persona "smallandround," an aesthetic inspired by time he spent living in Japan. Jeremiah Ketner's art is inspired by his time spent living in Japan. "Ketner blends traditional techniques with pop culture influences," the release said.
"His custom toy art has also gained a strong collector following." The mural is estimated to be completed in November. The project has been facilitated by Quad City Arts, a local nonprofit that helps curate arts programming, events, and opportunities for the region.
