Auckland’sharbour waterfront is the place to be this summer as thesecond Moana Auckland, New Zealand’s Ocean Festival,launches for a six-week celebration of all things nautical,honouring one of Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s most precioustaonga. Starting on 27 January, Auckland AnniversaryDay, and running through to 9 March, Moana Auckland promisesan action-packed programme of whānau-friendly on andoff-water events making the most of the city’s world-classwaterfront precinct, the beautiful Waitematā Harbour andAuckland’s surrounding coastal areas. Moana Aucklandwill add a splash of excitement to summer in the city,featuring a treasure trove of events including Moana Music(with headlining act to be announced soon) the Auckland BoatShow, the Mermaid Parade, as well as interactive familyactivities exploring sustainability work and ocean educationhappening around the region.

The festival alsofeatures a wave of on-water activities, including theAuckland Anniversary Day Regatta, the IWWF World UniversityWaterski Championship, the PIC Harbour Classic yacht race,the Millenium Cup superyacht regatta, plus fan-favourite ZManu World Champs (dive bomb) competition which will bebigger and better than ever. Tātaki AucklandUnlimited Head of Major Events Michelle Hooper says thefestival is a huge drawcard for the city and is one of theevents which underpins Tāmaki Makaurau Auckland’s summerevents strategy. “We’re delighted to bring MoanaAuckland back for its second year.
