(AP Photo/John Minchillo) The MLB All-Star Break gets started with a bang on Monday evening with the 2024 Home Run Derby.

Two-time winner Pete Alonso looks to join an elite company with another victory, but what do the odds say about the favorites for this fan-favorite event? Unsurprisingly, Alonso is the favorite as the most seasoned veteran participating in the derby. It's worth noting in this year's Home Run Derby, so who should bettors keep an eye on? Let's take a look at the field and explain our picks. BET $5, WIN $200 BONUS IF YOUR BET WINS FANDUEL SPORTSBOOK (Exc.

OH + MA) BET $5, WIN $300 BONUS IF YOUR BET WINS FANDUEL SPORTSBOOK OHIO BET $5, WIN $300 BONUS IF YOUR BET WINS FANDUEL SPORTSBOOK MASSACHUSETTS While the format and rules are changing a bit, the event is fundamentally the same. Eight of the league's best home run hitters will gather at Globe Life Field in Arlington, Texas, for an exciting night of competition. Here are the 2024 participants and their current home run tallies: As stated earlier, Alonso is the betting favorite (+300) as he goes for his third title.

He would join Ken Griffey Jr. as the only player to achieve this feat if he manages to come out on top in Texas. However, it won't be easy with oddsmakers expecting a highly competitive field.

Three of the eight players have hit 20+ home runs with Gunnar Henderson (+400), Marcell Ozuna (+380) and Jose Ramirez (+1500) being popular picks to upset the Polar Bear. They've all found their power strokes this season; whether that will translate to this event remains to be seen. My favorite play is Adolis Garcia (+550).

The Texas Rangers slugger hasn't possessed the pop he would've hoped for this season with just 17 home runs at the unofficial halfway point of the season. Factor in a disappointing performance at last year's derby and you've got a player who provides serious value on the betting market. Garcia comes alive when the lights are brightest, as he showed during last year's postseason run.

The 31-year-old is a showman at heart and he'll be eager to avenge last year's letdown in front of his home crowd. Garcia possesses plenty of power after hitting 39 long balls last season and he'll have the Texas faithful behind him as he goes for the crown. Hitting at home provides Garcia with a unique advantage as he knows the ballpark better than his seven opponents.

While no contestant has won in front of his home fans since Bryce Harper in 2018, can the Rangers slugger break the streak? He's my pick to take home the $1 million prize at this year's event. Here are the 2024 MLB Home Run Derby winner odds via FanDuel Sportsbook as of July 15, 2024: Pete Alonso +300 Marcell Ozuna +380 Gunnar Henderson +400 Bobby Witt Jr. +470 Adolis Garcia +550 Teoscar Hernandez +1100 Jose Ramirez +1500 Alec Bohm +2000.
