Pune: Speculations of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MLA from Junnar , Atul Benke , joining NCP (SCP) were further fuelled after he put up banners welcoming Sharad Pawar to his constituency on Sunday. He met the NCP (SCP) chief for the second time in a month on Sunday, during the latter’s visit to Otur to unveil statues of Shrikrishna Tambe and Lata Tambe, former MLAs of Junnar, and a statue of Vilas Tambe. The banners installed by Benke bore neither the photo of any NCP leader, including Ajit Pawar, nor the party symbol.

They only had Pawar’s picture on them. Atul Benke, however, refuted the speculations of him joining NCP (SCP) and said his family has good relations with the Pawar family and that has not been affected due to the recent political developments in the state. “I would contest the election on an NCP ticket under the leadership of Ajit Pawar,” he said.

Congress to act against MLA Zeeshan Siddiqui for welcoming NCP chief Ajit Pawars Jan Sanman Yatra in Bandra Congress planned to decide on Zeeshan Siddiqui's future following rumours of his cross-voting and support for Ajit Pawar's rally. Siddiqui voiced dissatisfaction with the party leadership. NCP MLA Nawab Malik and his daughter Sana backed Pawar during the Jan Sanman Yatra.
