The long journey home was well worth it for the Cork man who travelled back to Bandon Road from his home on an island off Denmark for 'the last supper' as he tucked into a big order of Jackie Lennox's and sunk a few pints in Rosie Maddison's last night. 'Denmark Dave' was the talk of Leeside after he revealed that he was catching a ferry to Sweden, driving across the enormous Øresund Bridge to Denmark, boarding a flight to Dublin and taking the Air Coach to Cork just so he could enjoy his favourite chipper before it closes its doors for good tonight. The city was flooding around him and the rain was pelting down, but nothing was going to get in the way of Dave enjoying the food after travelling so far for a taste of home.

The monumental loss of Jackie Lennox's was summed up perfectly by his unwavering commitment to making it home in time to place an order - and it struck a chord with Red FM presenter Neil Prendeville, who followed through on his on-air commitment to meet the Cork native for some chips and a few drinks yesterday evening.
