You may or may not love the monsoon season, but the easiest way to thaw out of the gloom is with a vibrant outfit. Mira Kapoor surely is on board with the idea. “Sunshine on a cloudy day with my favourite Anamika Khanna,” she wrote to describe her mustard yellow ensemble.

Beyond its striking shade, the set illustrates intricate craftsmanship and a unique silhouette. The founder of skincare label Akind, who has shown her patronage for the veteran designer on a plethora of occasions over the years, proudly propped a mustard yellow set for Anant Ambani and Radhika Merchant’s wedding celebrations back in July 2024. She posed for the camera in a diaphanous sharara that came with a pre-draped sari.

Giving it an androgynous slant was the short kurta’s bandhgala design, which was generously accented with Khanna’s indelible floral embroidery. A matching cloth belt cinched at the waist adds some definition to the look. Her hybrid silhouette proves that occasion wear doesn’t have to be cliché, common or cumbersome.

She elevated the look with polki earrings from Birdhichand Ghanshyamdas along with a stack of ornate bangles and kadas from Anmol. The beauty entrepreneur’s husband and actor Shahid Kapoor opted for an ebony Anamika Khanna kurta set, featuring the same paisley patterns and floral patterns embroidered on it. Couples who like to complement their outfits but cringe at the concept of cheesy colour-coordinated creations must take a leaf out of the looks put together by Shahid and Mira for the evening.

It’s an interesting way to subtly twin with your SO without getting carried away. Mira Kapoor isn’t the only celebrity to slip into a yellow piece from Anamika Khanna: Kajol , Katrina Kaif and more have flaunted similar silhouettes, too. A draped sari-style in a pretty lemon hue caught Kajol’s fancy for the promotional tour of her film Helicopter Eela.

Katrina Kaif wore a similar pre-draped yellow Anamika Khanna set for a public outing. Like Rajput Kapoor’s, her look, too, was styled with a matching embroidered belt. From its fuss-free style to elegant embroidery, this style is as versatile as it comes.

You can wear it for a destination affair just as easily as you can for a cocktail night. Simply switch it up with appropriate jewellery and accessories.
