Maldives Marketing and Public Relations Corporation (MMPRC/ Visit Maldives) has hosted a Media Press Conference to share the latest tourism industry updates and highlights from the highly successful “Welcome India” Roadshow series concluded last week. The event, held at MMPRC Headquarters on 8th August 2024, was joined by the Minister of Tourism, Ibrahim Faisal; Advisor to the President on Tourism Development, Mohamed Khaleel; Chairperson of MMPRC and President of the Maldives Association of Travel Agents and Tour Operators (MATATO); and the Chief Executive Officer & Managing Director of MMPRC, Ibrahim Shiuree. The media press conference held today focused on strengthening the tourism industry through open transparent communication and cooperation.

MMPRC shared insights into its operations, outlining strategies and initiatives designed to highlight the Maldives' unique experiences and drive Indian and global travel trade growth. The Media Press Conference also shared highlights from the “Welcome India” roadshow, a collaborative effort between MMPRC, MATATO, and NHGAM, conducted from 30th July 2024 to 3rd August 2024. The 3-city roadshow series, which spanned New Delhi, Mumbai, and Bangalore aimed to maintain the Maldives’ destination presence, connect with B2B travel trade partners, and reinforce the Maldives’ as the premier holiday destination for Indian Travellers.



MMPRC, MATATO and NHGAM were joined at this event by 23 industry partners from the Maldives. The Maldives delegation at the event also included Tourism Minister Ibrahim Faisal and Advisor to the President Mohamed Khaleel. The key highlights of the “Welcome India” roadshow includes a comprehensive destination showcase offering an overview of the Maldives’ diverse tourism products and experiences.

Attendees had the opportunity to engage in one-on-one meetings with Maldivian tourism representatives, explore business opportunities, and build lasting partnerships. Additionally, Island Aviation and Sri Lankan Airlines highlighted the enhanced connectivity options to the Maldives with individual presentations. Raffle draws and further engaging presentations added an interactive element to the roadshow, creating a vibrant atmosphere and generating excitement among attendees.

India remains a crucial market for the Maldives, and the “Welcome India” roadshow was a strategic step to further solidify the Maldives’ appeal in this market. MMPRC will continue to promote the Maldives in India to maintain the Maldives’ top-of-mind awareness and drive visitor arrivals. Upcoming initiatives include PR activities, participation in trade shows, media familiarisation trips, joint marketing programmes with airlines and online travel agents, and digital marketing campaigns.
