Thiruvananthapuram: Transport Minister KB Ganesh Kumar embarked on a journey to assess the newly launched Kerala State Road Transport (KSRTC) AC Premium Superfast buses. The minister boarded the bus at Thampanoor in Thiruvananthapuram, purchasing a ticket to Kottarakkara. The minister’s objective was to evaluate the operation of the bus and get the opinion of the passengers.
In an effort to enhance passenger awareness, the minister on Friday announced that a video will be shown on the bus, demonstrating the use of seat belts and Wi-Fi facilities. He mentioned that the government is considering procuring additional buses with increased luggage space, particularly for passengers arriving from the airport. Furthermore, he confirmed that an online ticket purchasing option will soon be available.
Accompanying Minister Ganesh Kumar were his wife, Bindu Menon, and officials from KSRTC. Minister Ganesh Kumar expressed his commitment to implementing further systems and reforms within KSRTC. He highlighted that the premium service aims to provide comfort comparable to that of travelling in a personal vehicle, making luxury facilities accessible to the general public at an affordable cost.
He explained that while Super Fast buses might incur higher charges if labelled as Super Fast Express or Deluxe, the premium service allows for flexibility in stops, addressing one of the key advantages of this new offering. Changes are expected in ticketing systems, transitioning to cashless operat.
