The Mini Cooper is a legend in itself and has been a popular car for enthusiasts as well as luxury buyers alike in India as well globally. The New Cooper S is an all new generation for this time and has been launched in India at a starting price of Rs 44.90 lakh (ex-showroom).
The Mini Cooper S, also regarded as the pocket rocket is coming back in an all new avatar. It gets updates exteriors, interiors, technology and drivetrains. The Cooper S has also been quite popular with enthusiasts and has been a great platform for those who like to modify their vehicles.
On the exterior, everything is now more rounded up and flat edged. There are new wheels and the rear taillights are sharper than before. The overall design remains recognizable yet it has been simplified with a more minimalist approach.
On the inside, the minimalist approach is even more apparent, the drivers display has been done away with completely and all the information is now projected on a circular centre screen dominating the cabin. Some toggle switches remain but many others have been shifted to the screen itself which is the direction that most of the manufacturers have been taking nowadays. There are also new trims and finishes across the board to liven things up.
There is good news in terms of the drivetrain though, the Cooper S features the 2.0L turbocharged petrol engine which produces 201 bhp and 300 Nm of torque and is quite a feisty motor in the Mini. In India, we expect the only transmission option to be offered to be the 7-speed dual clutch.
