Miller and Carter has announced the opening date of its new Middlesbrough restaurant. The upmarket chain is preparing to open the doors to its latest venue on the new-build Grey Towers estate in Nunthorpe. Known for serving up luxury steak, prime burgers, and signature sides, Miller and Carter has garnered a huge following over the years, with restaurants in Newcastle, Sunderland, and York.
And now, steak lovers on Teesside won’t have far to travel as the chain has confirmed it will finally open in a matter of weeks on Friday, September 20. The venue, which is located near the Pool roundabout, off the A172, follows years of uncertainty around a pub on the new-build development.
National operator Mitchells and Butlers, which owns the brand, was initially granted permission to build a pub in 2014 under the Vintage Inns name. But in 2017, a revised application was lodged for Miller and Carter. Nunthorpe councillor Mieka Smiles said the company was still “actively working on the project” in 2022 - and the following year, a new application was submitted for landscaping works.

Since then, works have been well underway, with the chain promising that “exceptional is coming”. On Facebook, Miller and Carter said: “Exceptional is coming to Nunthorpe. Miller & Carter Nunthorpe is opening on Friday 20th September.
