Milk is a priority on every shopping list, as most people cannot survive a morning without a cup of tea or coffee , but many people may not realise they are storing this dairy product incorrectly. Kelsie, an expert from Alberta Milk, has shared that you should always avoid keeping milk inside the fridge door as it will make it spoil faster. She said: “Store milk on refrigerator shelves where it is cooler rather than in the refrigerator doors.

” Storing milk inside the refrigerator door is not ideal, as it is the warmest area of the refrigerator, and the temperature constantly changes every time you open the door. Milk is highly perishable and if you want to ensure it stays fresh for as long as possible, then keep it on the middle or lower shelves inside the fridge where it is consistently cold. Milk often spoils before its time because it is highly sensitive to temperature changes.

Since it is a dairy product, it is more likely to attract bacteria if left at room temperature for too long. Never leave milk on the kitchen countertop for more than two hours, as it can cause bacteria to multiply and expose it to sunlight. When milk is left in light, it will destroy the vitamins in the drink, not to mention heat it up, which will make it taste rancid.

Kelsie said: “Avoid exposing milk to light, as light destroys certain vitamins, such as vitamin D and riboflavin.” When shopping, it is also best to buy dairy products last to minimise their exposure to warmer temperatures whi.
