A Union Springs graduate is serving with the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Theodore Roosevelt on its way back from the Middle East.

Petty Officer 2nd Class Mason J. Miller, a 2018 graduate of Union Springs High School, has been on the aircraft carrier since January. It was deployed to the Red Sea this summer and is returning to San Diego this fall.



Miller serves as an aviation rescue swimmer aboard the vessel, and is assigned to Helicopter Sea Combat Squadron 8, the "Eightballers." Miller received his Enlisted Aviation Warfare Specialist pin during his deployment. He graduated Navy boot camp in April 2019 and aircrew candidate school in August 2019, followed by survival, evasion, resistance and escape training in fall 2019 and rescue swimmer school in November 2019.

He is stationed in San Diego. He is the son of Rachel and Jeramie Liseno, and his siblings are Leah Miller and Rowan and Abby Liseno. Receive the latest in local entertainment news in your inbox weekly!.
