Mike Elko said something he felt needed to be said after Texas A&M’s 42-10 thrashing of Missouri on Saturday at Kyle Field about his quarterback Conner Weigman, who started for the first time in four games against the Tigers. “You can challenge Conner for how he plays and you can be upset with Conner for how he throws a football, some of the stuff that has been said about this kid and written by this kid — not by you guys, you guys have been great — is embarrassing,” Elko said. “It’s absolutely embarrassing the stuff that gets out there on this kid.
This kid’s a winner, he’s a competitor, he does everything he needs to do for Texas A&M football and there’s a lot of people right now that need to stand up and recognize what they’ve said over the last three weeks and taking some [expletive] ownership in it.” Elko didn’t specify who or what group of people he was talking to, but A&M’s head coach was stern in his statement.
