Hailing from Lincoln, the Midnight Wanderers are composed of (from left) Thad Miller (fiddle and vocals), Colten Welch (guitar and vocals), Jenny Richardson (bass and vocals), Matt Richardson (banjo, guitar and vocals) and Joel Grenemeier (mandolin and vocals). The Garden Performance Series of free outdoor concerts will continue Wednesday with a noon performance by the Midnight Wanderers at the Lincoln Community Foundation Garden, 1415 N St. The Midnight Wanderers started over a decade ago when husband and wife, Matt and Jenny Richardson, delved deeper into the folk tradition.

Matt picked up the banjo and Jenny gravitated to upright bass. From there, they shaped their band and the old-time goodness of their setlists. Drawing from bluegrass to old-time folk and blues, their music covers the gamut of Americana.

Matt, who grew up the son of a Texas western swing fiddle player, has started bringing more Bob Wills tunes into the group. Jenny, one of the main songwriters in the band, has been adding original tunes that blend well into the mix. Although the lineup has moved around over the years, the current lineup lets them explore their full potential.

Thad Miller, fiddler extraordinaire, joined the band in 2019. He has become an integral part of the band's sound with his fiery, fast fiddle runs and high, lonesome harmonies and vocal leads. Joel Grenemeier, a bluegrass veteran of the Lincoln scene, brought his dulcet tenor and mandolin to the Wanderers in early 2022.

Rounding out the sound is Colten Welch on those lightning-fast guitar licks and rhythm, bringing a fun energy to the group. The Garden Performance Series will continue on Wednesdays from noon-1 p.m.

through Sept. 18 at the Lincoln Community Foundation Garden. For the full lineup in the Garden Performance Series, see www.
