Thursday, August 22, 2024 As the Middle East continues to solidify its role as a global aviation hub, major airlines are gearing up to expand their networks with new routes starting in September 2024. Gulf Air, Oman Air, Emirates , and Qatar Airways have all announced plans to enhance global connectivity by introducing flights to a variety of new destinations. These routes include popular cities such as Zurich, Budapest, and Bali, further connecting the Middle East to Europe, Asia, and beyond.

This strategic expansion aims to meet growing passenger demand and strengthen the region’s position as a key player in international air travel. Gulf Air, the national carrier of Bahrain, has announced an expansion of its operations through a codeshare agreement with Emirates. This partnership allows Gulf Air passengers to connect seamlessly through Dubai to several destinations in Europe, Africa, South America, and the Far East.



Notable new routes include connections to Budapest, Prague, Warsaw, Algeria, Tunis, Bali, Hanoi, Ho Chi Minh City, Taipei, and Sao Paulo. These connections offer travelers more choices and convenience when flying from the GCC region to international destinations. This strategic move aligns with Gulf Air’s boutique strategy, aiming to enhance passenger experience by offering more diversified travel options through a broader network​.

Gulf Air: Expanded Connectivity through Codeshare with Emirates Oman Air has unveiled strategic network changes to meet growing demand and enhance passenger convenience. Starting from September 2024, Oman Air will introduce new routes and adjust its operations to better serve its key markets. Notably, the airline is launching new flights to Sialkot, while reducing or suspending operations to Islamabad, Lahore, Colombo, and Chittagong.

Additionally, Oman Air will operate flights to Trabzon, Zurich, and Malé on a seasonal basis, focusing on the peak travel seasons for these destinations. These adjustments are part of Oman Air’s broader strategy to align with Oman’s Vision 2040, which emphasizes economic and social development​. As part of its growing collaboration with Gulf Air, Emirates will now offer passengers flying from Bahrain more options to connect via Dubai to destinations like Bali, Warsaw, and Taipei. Additionally, Emirates is set to increase its flight frequencies to several major cities, thereby boosting connectivity across its extensive network.
