[+] pasta on their Miami Spice menu Casa Neos For the past 23 years, summer in Miami has been synonymous to Miami Spice — the two-month-long restaurant promotion, organized by the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau (GMCVB). From August 1 through September 30, over 250 participating restaurants will offer prix fixe, three-course Miami Spice menus at $30/ $35 for lunch and brunch; and $45/ $60 for dinner. This year, the roster of restaurants are especially exciting, with some of the city’s hottest new openings offering discounted menus during this period— a great time to visit before the busy fall and winter seasons.

Some of the new additions this year include the Elastika, the New American restaurant in the Design District situated under the late Zaha Hadid’s sculpture of the same name; the two-story waterside Casa Neos by Riviera Dining Group (the same folks behind Mila and Mila Omakase) along the Miami River; Sereia, the seafood-forward, modern Portuguese concept by chef Henrique Sá Pessoa (of two-Michelin-starred Alma in Lisbon) in Coconut Grove; Los Angeles-based H.Wood Group’s 1920s-inspired supper club, Delilah Miami, in Brickell; Downtown Miami’s neighborhood sushi bar, Mr. Omakase; and José Andrés’ Mediterranean Zaytinya in South Beach.

Within the restaurant’s stone and stucco walls beautifully draped in cotton, jute and linen fabrics— guests can enjoy Casa Neos’ coastal Mediterranean fare that include hummus with toasted pine nuts, zucchini and eggplant chips, crispy cod beignet, black truffle pasta, and salmon with shishito peppers and saffron sauce, to name a few. And good news for vegans— the restaurant is able to accomodate plant-based alternatives for their Miami Spice menu.

“We decided to join Miami Spice as we felt it'd be a great way to showcase our food, beverage and unique space to the south Florida locals.” Anthony, who was previously culinary director at two-Michelin-starred Gabriel Kreuther in New York, shares that diners can expect to find their favorite dishes like the heirloom tomato gazpacho, seared diver scallops, grilled bavette steak, and house-made squid ink orecchiette, with the option to upgrade. “We plan to change the menu throughout as we like to be as seasonal as possible, while being able to provide repeat guests with a variety of new options,” Anthony shares.

Omakase co-founder Andrew Mayer, the impact of Miami Spice on his crispy rice and hand roll bar, Miss Crispy Rice, was the reason he decided for his Downtown Miami sushi bar to participate this year. “We were sold out almost every service, grew our clientele and made some new friends along the way,” shares the OG Hospitality Group co-founder. “We were one of the few sushi restaurants to also offer omakase which I think was a huge draw.

” During this period, guests can experience 10 courses for $60 that include a seasonal appetizer, chef’s choices of nigiri (which depending on availability can include chu-toro, shima-aji, kanpachi and hotate), chawanmushi and handroll, prepared by chef parter Ryo Kato. Sister restaurant Oise by James Beard-nominated chef Brad Kilgore will also be participating for the first time this year. Signature Dining Experiences During this period, select restaurants are also offering the Signature Dining Experiences, which go beyond the traditional pre-fixe, three-course menus with special offerings that can range from multi-course specials to a private dinner with the restaurant owners.

For instance, Michelin-recognized Fiola Miami will be offering their five-course pasta omakase menu for $95; and Florida’s sole two-Michelin-starred restaurant L'Atelier de Joël Robuchon will be serving their Evolution Menu Dégustation Menu for $135.
