Metal Gear Solid Delta: Snake Eater fans finally got a chance to play the game at the Tokyo Game Show – and from what we can gather, they were not disappointed. Konami appears to be pulling out all of the stops to make this a faithful remaster, albeit with a few welcome tweaks. We’ve scrutinised a lot of the gameplay footage coming out of TGS and keep spotting incredible details that may have been missed.

One such video on YouTube shows some of the new gameplay mechanics in action as well as some of the legacy details that were also present in the 2004 original. Returning features such as being able to shoot the rope bridge at the start of the game to cause soldiers to fall off, to spinning Naked Snake around in the menu and causing him to then vomit are, of course, present. However, Konami has also borrowed mechanics from Metal Gear Solid V.

Revamped Alert and loot system As per MGSV, the player will now receive a small ‘vision’ symbol if a solider can see Snake. This will then change colour if the enemy has confirmed the sighting. This helps the player gauge where enemies are and to react accordingly, as well as being able to quickly tell the direction of fire should you be spotted.

But that’s not all. In the original game. you needed to pick enemies up in order to loot them.

However, in the latest gameplay demo, it appears to show a similar ‘quick loot’ pat-down system that allows the player to press a button to loot unconcious or dead enemies. Again, this is.
