Despite a recent uptick in the weather , for many this summer has been something of a wash-out. And now, according to the national forecaster and founder of British Weather Services Jim Dale, Brits should prepare themselves for a wet and grey second half of this month, as the country edges towards Autumn.

Mr Dale told Express.co.uk that the inclement weather will arrive as early as the weekend for some.

There could be a "zone of cloudier conditions" in between that will meander north and south, and there will likely be some heavy pulses outbreaks of rain through this time, also. It adds: "Towards the middle of next week more changeable conditions are likely to push eastward from the Atlantic, displacing any hot air away from the UK, with the main focus then being on cooler temperatures, spells or rain and showers, and some unseasonably strong winds.

" Wednesday 21 Aug - Wednesday 4 Sep Looking ahead to the end of August and the start of September, the national forecaster is painting an equally grim picture, with a "changeable" weather pattern and areas of low pressure dominating in Scotland and the north of England. Meanwhile in the south, clouds and grey skies are expected to be the norm as we head towards the autumn. In its outlook from Wednesday, August 21 until Wednesday, September 4, iy adds: "Temperatures overall near or slightly below average are signalled, but short hotter spells remain possible in the south.

Into early September, a more slowly evolving pattern is signalled, but confidence is low in this.".
