Mercedes-Benz India today launched the updated Mercedes-AMG GLC 43 Coupe and Mercedes CLE Cabriolet in the Indian market. Along with the launch, the company has revealed that it will be launching the Mercedes-Maybach EQS 680 luxury EV in the Indian market on September 5th 2024. The prices for the EV are expected to begin upwards of Rs 4 crores (ex-showroom).

When launched, the EQS 680 will be the most expensive EV from Mercedes on sale in the Indian market. The EQS 680 is the first-ever EV from Mercedes-Maybach and it first made its global debut back in April 2023. In terms of design, the Maybach EQS is based on a standard EQS SUV and retails the same design.



It gets Maybach treatment all around and looks more premium and more luxurious than the standard model. The luxury EV features a signature dual-tone paint job accentuated by a hand-applied pinstripe. There are five two-tone colour options available globally - high-tech silver/obsidian black, high-tech silver/nautical blue, obsidian black/selenite grey, obsidian black/Kalahari gold, and velvet brown/onyx black.

It’s still not confirmed which colour option Mercedes-Benz will offer in India. The black panel on the SUV showcases numerous chrome-plated vertical lines, reminiscent of the Maybach grille found on models like the S 680 sedan and GLS 600. The windows have chrome surrounds, a Maybach emblem is positioned on the D-pillar, and the three-pointed star badge is positioned on the bonnet as seen on the other Maybach models.

Moving inside, the overall layout is same as the standard EV but again, it gets multiple Maybach elements to make the interior more luxurious. It gets the 'MBUX Hyperscreen' infotainment system, tailored with exclusive Maybach themes and color schemes. Standard features include rear executive seats with ventilation, massage functions, and neck and shoulder heating; two 11.

6-inch displays for rear passengers; the MBUX rear tablet, usable both inside and outside the vehicle; and MBUX Interior Assist, which uses cameras to recognize passenger gestures and more. Customers can also opt for additional features such as two climate-controlled cup holders, a Chauffeur package which folds the front passenger seat to let the rear seat passenger stretch out, and a redesigned centre console extension that can house two folding tables, a cooling compartment and silver-plated champagne goblets. The EV can sprint from 0-100 kph in 4.4 seconds and has top speed of the SUV is rated at 210 kmph. The EV has claimed range of 600 kilometres on a full charge and gets a 22 kW onboard AC charger as standard which can charge the SUV to full in 6 hours and 15 minutes.

It can also be plugged into a 200 kW DC fast charger. The EQS 680 comes standard with Airmatic air suspension, featuring continuously adjustable damping and the ability to raise the SUV by up to 35 mm. It also includes rear-axle steering with a maximum angle of 4.
